Public Staff Consolidates Electric and Natural Gas Divisions to Create Energy Division
Effective August 3, 2020, the Electric Division and Natural Gas Division of the Public Staff was consolidated into a newly created Public Staff Energy Division. As the energy landscape across North Carolina continues to evolve, the new structure will better position the Public Staff to represent the using and consuming public by combining the separate areas of expertise into a larger and more diversified division.
The Energy Division will be led by James McLawhorn, who has led the Electric Division for the past 14 years. The Energy Division will have three sections that will be managed as follows:
- Electric Revenues, Rates, and Services – Jack Floyd
- Electric Operations and Planning – Jay Lucas
- Natural Gas – Neha Patel
While the three sections are organized by subject matter, engineers across all three sections will participate in both electric and natural gas matters, which will enhance our ability to meet an ever-growing workload in the energy sector.
