IRS Imposter Scams are on the rise!

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is the government agency that collects federal taxes. Scammers pretend to be IRS Officials to get you to send them money.

How the Scam Works

You get a call.

The Federal Communications Commission is alerting consumers to be on the lookout for callers pretending to be utility company employees demanding immediate payment, often by prepaid debit cards, credit cards, or gift cards.

Here's how they work: You get a call from someone who says he’s a computer technician. He might say he’s from a well-known company like Microsoft, or maybe your internet service provider...

Raleigh, NC - Starting April 23, 2016, all local calls made within the North Carolina 336 area code must be placed using the 10 digit telephone number (area code plus the 7-digit local telephone number), whether using home telephone service or cellular service.
